Dynax America has been a major industrial manufacturer in the Botetourt community for many years, and Parker Design Group, Inc. has been proud to partner with them on several projects, ranging from a utility investigation project, to the site design, surveying and stormwater services for a 144,000 square feet building addition.
Most recently, Parker Design Group, Inc. worked closely with them to develop plans for a 144,000 square foot building addition, as well as parking and access road additions, to their current operations in Botetourt County. After getting a precise survey and incorporating this data into the site design, it was determined that approximately 50,000 cubic yards of material would need to be excavated and placed onsite, to ensure that the site was balanced, with no excess material.
There were several obstacles that the design team faced during the expansion project planning. Based on the existing topography and the planned building footprint, it was determined that over 20 feet of fill material would require placement and proper compaction in one portion of the site. Parker Design Group, Inc. worked closely with Geotechnical Engineers, the design/construction team and owner to minimize the potential delays of allowing this material to naturally compact itself. Open dialog and scheduled meetings ensured that the best solution was agreed upon prior to problems arising.
Professional services included parking lot design, site design, security site plan, utility investigation, boundary line adjustment, construction stake-out, topographic survey, as-built surveys and construction site stormwater inspection and management.
