Civil Engineer | Roanoke
We are currently searching for another great Team Member in our Roanoke Engineering Department with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (or a related field). We prefer candidates with 2-5 years of experience in Civil3D software and the ability to prepare Site Civil Plans for land development projects. These plans include but are not limited to Utility, Grading, Erosion Control, and Stormwater Management plans. Candidates shall have an understanding of current regulations pertaining to Stormwater Management and have the ability to perform calculations pertaining to these regulations.
Great written and oral communication skills are vital. A willingness to be coachable and the attitude to do whatever it takes for us to meet (and exceed) our clients’ needs is an important characteristic. Our Engineering Team works closely with our Surveying Team and being able to articulate your knowledge and ideas effectively is vital to our success. We prefer candidates with an EIT/PE license.

Land Development Engineering Internship Program | Roanoke
We are seeking motivated Civil Engineering students interested in gaining meaningful, hands-on experience within a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.
Interns gain exposure to the full project lifecycle—from field data collection through engineering design—while working directly alongside licensed engineers and experienced professionals. Students with an interest in land development-focused coursework, including those participating in programs such as Virginia Tech’s Land Development Design Initiative (LDDI), are especially encouraged to apply.
COMPENSATION
- Competitive hourly rate: $25–$30 per hour, based on experience and academic level
- Paid internship with structured mentorship and exposure to real projects and clients
While compensation is competitive for the region, the true value of this internship lies in the depth of practical experience, direct mentorship, and meaningful project involvement that prepare students for long-term success in land development engineering.
PROGRAM DURATION & SCHEDULE
- Primary Term: Mid-April through late August
- Total Commitment: Approximately 240 hours
- Flexible schedule coordinated around academic and project needs
- Opportunity for continued part-time employment during fall and spring semesters (based on performance)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & PROFESSIONAL EXPOSURE
Field & Survey Experience:
- Assist survey crews in field operations
- Observe boundary, topographic, and construction surveying
- Participate in stormwater and utility assessments
- Develop understanding of site constraints and regulatory considerations
Engineering & Design Support:
- Assist with site layout, grading, and drainage concepts
- Support stormwater design calculations and modeling
- Assist with utility layout and coordination
- Exposure to AutoCAD and Civil 3D workflows
- Attend internal project meetings and site visits
- Receive structured mentorship and professional feedback

Stormwater Inspector | Roanoke & Richmond
Our Roanoke and Richmond office are looking for a full-time, self-motivated team player to fill the position of Stormwater Inspector. The selected individual will inspect construction sites for compliance with stormwater regulations and is responsible for ensuring site compliance with all applicable VPDES Construction General Permits and the project Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP).
This is primarily a field position requiring the majority of the work hours to be spent on project sites. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Conduct routine site inspections as specified in the SWPPP
- Read and understand civil construction plans and topographical maps in order to verify site compliance
- Identify BMP issues and coordinate with contractors to address items needed to bring the site back into compliance
- Communicate inspection results with the project team
- Complete SWPPP Inspection Reports and Update SWPPP in a timely manner
- Assist with closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspections to evaluate pipe conditions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Solid understanding of stormwater regulations, construction practices, BMPs, and VPDES regulations
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work well individually with minimal supervision and as a team player
- Ability to maintain own schedule and meet deadlines
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Capable of walking long distances on potentially difficult terrain.
- Willingness to attend training classes to obtain industry certifications as necessary.
- DEQ SWM/ESC Inspector certification a plus
